Go Leanne!!
Inkfish Stylist Leanne Chadwick has won a national competition run by professional hair product company TIGI. The prize, valued at £7,000, is a photographic shoot in London art directed by TIGI's Global Creative Director, superstar hairdresser: Nick Irwin and shot by TIGI's top photographer at Bed Head Studios in Battersea. Leanne will be creating high fashion looks on professional models and the resulting images will be placed in the hair media. (Magazines and websites.)
To win her prize Leanne had to devise some 'cocktails' using products from the TIGI Bed Head range and then shoot her own looks in the salon and explain how the styling and finishing effects that her cocktails would create. Details of Leanne's TIGI Bed Head Cocktail together with her photographic image was then sent in to the competition.
Inkfish Salon owner Vidette Chivers said on hearing the news: "I am absolutely delighted. Leanne is one of the younger members of my team and to win this creative award is fantastic and shows real artistry, vision and understanding of the importance of products in hairstyling." Vidette announced Leanne's win at the weekly Inkfish Team Meeting to a delighted Leanne.
Leanne's winning Bed Head Cocktail will feature in a new TIGI Bed Head Cocktail Menu and will be seen by thousands of hairdressers across the UK.

What an amazing opportunity for Tori!!!

She has been hand picked out of 100's to be a part of The Inspirational Youth Team 2011,
The team at iNkfish, New Bridge Street entered 4 of their stylists into this year's Inspirational Youth Programme. The competition was tough as young stylists from across Europe applied for this once in a lifetime opportunity to work with the best Hairdressers in the industry.
The only stylist in the whole of the South West to be chosen was Tori Prescott aged 25 and a Senior Stylist at iNkfish. Tori stated 'I was over whelmed when I found out I got onto The Inspirational Youth Programme!! I really wanted to do this ongoing course for a while now, because it is such a great opportunity to learn and progress within your hairdressing career. I feel really privileged that I'm a part of it, and that I have fantastic salon support from the Inkfish girls!! Tori was handpicked by Nick Irwin who is TIGI's head-creative honcho. The right-hand man of TIGI's image creator, hairdressing icon, and Nick's long-term mentor, Anthony Mascolo. Nick heads up the hairdressers who work backstage at fashion weeks, teach in the TIGI Academy and work on hair shows and product shoots for TIGI across the globe. One of the things Nick and his mentor both confess to being inspired by is Youth. They continually look to new youth trends to give them ideas and both enjoy working with young hairdressers claiming that sharing their own ideas with lesser experienced hairdressers enables them to move their own work forward.
Akos Bodi is TIGI's European Education Director and works with Nick on all the main global shows, TIGI collections and seminars. Akos and Nick both lead the Inspirational Youth Team and will direct the team as they discover new ideas, talents and inspiration for their work.
For the last 8 years TIGI has run an increasingly revered team of young stylists called Inspirational Youth. This year's team has just been announced and the 10 team members are going on a life-changing experience that will see them working on a unique project with students from the London College of Fashion entitled: Hair leads the Fashion and will include a photo shoot, film and event. The 10 hairdressers will begin training in August and will be taken on a life-changing journey that involves working with their own fashion designer who will create an outfit using the hairstyle as inspiration.
The Team will have their cutting and styling skills honed taking them from craftsmen to artists and will learn the skills of session and show hairdressing as well as presentation skills, photographic training and the intricacies of model casting. They will need to research trends, study fashion and art and will be working on projects for mood boards as part of the creative journey that is Inspirational Youth. The 6 month training experience will end with an exciting event early in 2012.
Inkfish would like to say a huge well done to Tori and we are so proud of you and will be supporting you all the way through your journey! x
